Nina McEntire Obituary
OTTAWA — Nina McEntire, 62, Ottawa Plains Apartment, Ottawa, died on Monday, May 26, 2008 after an extended illness, at Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, Kansas.
She was born September 30, 1945 in Hammond, LA, to Jesse and Lillie Bell Stout
who preceded her in death.
Nina was a board member of the Winter Center. Nina was a very strong advocate
for the homeless and less fortunate struggling families. She headed several
fund raising projects to aid children and adults at Ottawa Plains Apartments
such as a food pantry, rental and utility assistance, scholarship fund for individuals
seeking a GED and the installation of speed bumps to insure overall safety.
She was also an active volunteer coordinator for the food commodities program,
serving seniors, mothers and children.
She lived in Pomona before moving to Ottawa in 2006.
Before becoming disabled, Nina worked in a print shop and did volunteer work at several different nursing homes.
Survivors include a beloved great grandson, Miguel “Mikey” Pereles,
Rogers, Arkansas; two children, Katie and Jess, Oklahoma, two granddaughters,
Jennifer Bell, Kansas and Teri, sisters Bess Trevino (Hank), Ferrelview, MO,
Opal Spies (Will) Kansas City, MO, Ila Shock, Arkansas, Lillian Miller, New
Hampshire, Elinor Merritt (James), Arkansas and her dearest friend, Katey Hayden,
Ottawa.
She was cremated.
